Grenadine is a red-coloured syrup, used to flavour and colour drinks. It was originally made with the juice of the pomegranate fruit, but more recently is made from sugars and colourings.

Grenadine is a thick syrup and, when poured gently, will sink to the bottom of the glass, giving the drink an interesting range of colours.
