Apple cider comes in two varieties; alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
Non-alcoholic cider is a form of unfiltered apple juice, made frome early-harvest apples, giving it a tangy and tart flavour.
Alcoholic cider, called "hard cider" in North America ranges from ABV 3% (cidre doux) to a max of ABV 8%. Commercially produced, the cider will often be a clear golden colour, while locally-produced artisanal cider may be darker and more opaque.
